I will walk within my house with a perfect heart. I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes . . ." (Psalm 101:2b-3a)"...

Hear the cry of the Jews in the days of prophet Isaiah. "Prophesy not unto us right things, speak unto us smooth things, prophesy deceits." (Isaiah 30:10b)
Those Jews wanted their sin and their religion too. There was just one problem that disturbed them and that was God's prophets! They knew that if they were going to continue in their sins, the rugged straight preaching of the Word of God would have to cease. They must somehow control the prophets and cause them to compromise their message.
They did not succeed for in the following verses of Isaiah chapter thirty we find scathing rebukes and warnings under, "Thus saith the Holy One of Israel."
We have today a similar situation, and the Laodicean church has met with great success. Filling the pulpits are many delicate individuals who are afraid they might get their fingernails dirty if they had to go to work; so "smooth things" are generally issuing forth from most pulpits.
One of the smoothest yet most devastating "things" that is being preached is this, "T.V. is all right if it is controlled."
This is like saying, "A hornets nest in the kitchen cabinet is all right as long as it is controlled" or, "A crocodile in the nursery is all right as long as it is controlled."
Television can only be controlled by the same method that sin is to be controlled in the church — ". . . Therefore put away from among yourselves that wicked person." (I Corinthians 5:13b)
Our text says — "I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes."
T.V. is a device of Satan and Christians should have no part of it. Following are four facts that will clearly show that.
 

T.V. THE DESTROYER!
Satan through T.V. DESTROYS THE WILL TO RESIST EVIL. This does not take place overnight, but it is a gradual process.
The feeble defense that is usually raised by those who still hold on to the sodomite infested, nudity portraying, God blaspheming, whiskey advertising, sin glamorizing device of Satan is this, "My T.V. has a switch on it. If something comes on that I don't want to watch, all I have to do is turn it off."
Dear friend, may I ask you, do you not find that things which used to shock you when flashed before you on T.V. no longer have the same effect? Are things that angered you before now tolerated? Do you find it less and less necessary to turn it off?
What has happened? Your will to resist evil is gradually being destroyed and you didn't even realize it.
"Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners. Awake to righteousness, and sin not: for some have not the knowledge of God: I speak this to your shame." (I Corinthians 14:33-34)
Satan through T.V. DESTROYS THE HOME. Satan knows that if he can get the wives and mothers out of the homes he has destroyed that home! It will then be reduced to nothing more than a grand central station where the members of the family pass through on their different ways.
Satan, through T.V. has presented career women and working women as the normal pursuit of life. As a result most wives and mothers have forsaken the home in quest of the "finer" things of life.
Titus 2:5 tells where the wife's place is -". . . keepers at home."
Thirty years ago issues such as ERA, women's lib, abortion, lesbianism and sodomy were still lurking in the dark corners of hell, and people blushed at their mention. Now, thanks to T.V., they are considered by many as being just fine.
Has Satan destroyed your home? Is he now in the process of destroying your home? He will if he can!
Satan through T.V. DESTROYS MORAL STANDARDS THAT ARE SO ESSENTIAL. Immorality sums up television in one word.
Satan through T.V. is rapidly destroying moral standards. According to U.S. News and World Report, January 19, 1981, "Over 97% of all American households have one or more television sets, many in children's bedrooms ... by the age of 18, the average child will have spent 31,824 hours, (3.6 yrs. or 20% of his life) watching T.V."
Not only do we have a generation growing up with T.V. morals, but parents also portray the fact that their moral standards have also been destroyed by allowing their children to view such ungodly filth as is presented on T.V.
"Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things." (Philippians 4:8)
Satan through T.V. DESTROYS YOUR TESTIMONY. Since T.V. has turned out to be such a source of filth and immorality, just the presence of one in the home is detrimental to a Christian testimony.
 

T.V. THE CONTROLLER!
Satan through T. V. CONTROLS MINDS. The
mind is Satan's realm of operation. He is well occupying the minds of most with the wickedness, foolishness, covetousness, fantasy and lies that are presented on his T.V.
He controls the minds of the lost to keep them from coming to know God through the crucified, risen, interceding Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
As long as he can keep their minds occupied they will never be saved.
"But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them." (II Corinthians 4:3-4)
Satan seeks to control the minds of the saved that he might destroy their testimony and render them useless in the harvest of souls.
The scriptural standard for the Christian mind is found in II Corinthians 10:5b. ". . . bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ."
If you are a Christian, and you believe in the infallibility of the Scriptures, then the Devils T.V. will have to go.
This argument may be raised — "Are there not some good religious telecasts?
There are no good Christian telecasts. You will not find a good Christian witness in the beer joints, night clubs or gambling casinos.
The god that is being presented on T.V. is not the God of heaven, but is rather a demigod!
Here is the Scriptural indictment on a lost, devil controlled T.V. addicted world — "... God is not in all his thoughts."
Satan through T. V. CONTROLS PASSIONS -Thereby inciting lust and crime.
One of the Biblical signs of the end is that the world is to become ". . . as it was in the days of Noe." (Luke 17:26)
"And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually." (Genesis 6:5)
"The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence." (Genesis 6:11)
There we have a partial picture of conditions that were in the days of Noah.
Satan through T.V. has rapidly brought about the same violence, corruption and evil in this day.

The Noah day evils are further revealed in Luke 17:27).
"They did eat" — gluttony!
"They drank" — drunkenness!
"They married wives, they were given in marriage" — marriage, divorce and remarriage!
All these evils have rapidly increased since the Devil's television was made available to the homes.
Satan through T. V. CONTROLS LIVES. We are living in a "monkey see, monkey do" world. What Satan decides for this lost world to do, he simply displays it on T.V., and multitudes will soon be doing that very thing.
This explains why there are so many men wearing their hair in a shameful condition with hair all over their faces, women wear such immodest clothing, and sin is not considered so bad.
 

T.V. THE COUNSELOR!
Satan through T.V. COUNSELS CHILDREN TO REJECT PARENTAL AUTHORITY. There is a remarkable difference between children raised in homes where T.V. is, and homes where there is no T.V.
The non-T.V. homes engender children who show respect to their parents and who are obedient.
"Children, obey your parents in all things: for this is well pleasing unto the Lord." (Colossians 3:20)
Those children raised under T.V. counsel are just the opposite.
Satan through T.V. COUNSELS THAT SPANKING CHILDREN IS CHILD ABUSE. Here is God's counsel.
"Withhold not correction from the child: for if thou beatest him with the rod, he shall not die. Thou shalt beat him with the rod, and shalt deliver his soul from hell." (Proverbs 23:13-14)
Satan through T.V. COUNSELS DIVORCE AND REMARRIAGE IS JUST FINE. This abominable sin has been sanctioned through T.V. by Satan with such subtlety that a surprising number of so-called Bible believers endorse it.
Those who teach that this evil sin is acceptable in God's sight do not believe the KJV Bible to be the very Words of God.
"The wife is bound by the law as long as her husband liveth; but if her husband be dead, she is at liberty to be married to whom she will; only in the Lord." (I Corinthians 7:39)
Deuteronomy 32:32-33 pictures Satan’s counsel. "For their vine is of the vine of Sodom, and of the fields of Gomorrah: their grapes are grapes of gall, their clusters are bitter: Their wine is the poison of10 for $1.00 50 for $3.00
dragons, and the cruel venom of asps."
Psalm l:1a says, "Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly."
 

T.V. THE CONSUMER!
Satan through T.V. CONSUMES TIME. The
Scripture is very plain in Ephesians 5:15-16.
"See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, Redeeming the time, because the days are evil."
When we waste time we are walking as fools!
Most Christians claim that they only watch the ball games and the news. Even if it were not for the portrayal of evil scenes on the news, beer commercials, Sunday games, and immodesty connected with the ball game sports god, it is still a waste of time.
Time for sinners to be saved will soon be over. Time to reach them with the glorious gospel of Christ will soon be past.
Don't let the Devil consume your time with his T.V.
Satan through T.V. CONSUMES ATTENTION. "Till I come, give attention to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine." (I Timothy 4:13)
Here are three things that we may safely be occupied with:
"Reading" — How can anyone who claims to be a Christian sit in front of the Devil's T.V. while God's Word gathers dust on the shelf? We must read God's Word for spiritual food and drink. We must read God's Word in order to grow in grace. This is more important than anything the Devil has to offer.
"Exhortation" — That is to advise or warn earnestly.
Eternity is sure! Hell is real! Judgment will come!
"Doctrine" — This is earnest study of God's Word.
These should so arrest our attention that television could have no place in our lives.
Satan through T.V. CONSUMES CHILDREN -Like the fires of Molech!
The terrible account of what Israel did to their sons and daughters is recorded in Psalm 106:37-38.
"Yea, they sacrificed their sons and their daughters unto devils, And shed innocent blood, even the blood of their sons and of their daughters, whom they sacrificed unto the idols of Canaan ..."
That same thing, only worse, is taking place today in most living rooms and dens. The souls of children are being sacrificed to the idols of sports, entertainment, style, lust, etc. upon the Devil's own altar.

CONCLUSION
Yes, your television is under the control of Satan!
If you are a Christian, it is past time for you to take heed to the things written herein.
If you are a lost sinner, won't you here and now repent of your sins and ask the Lord Jesus Christ to forgive your sins and save your soul?
"Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else." (Isaiah 45:22)

Oh, what does it matter, turn on the TV.
Then confusion reigns, they can't all agree
On what they shall watch on the old TV.
So they open the book in which they confide
(No, not the Bible, it's the T.V. Guide).
The Word of God is seldom read
Maybe a verse e're they fall into bed.
Exhausted and sleepy and tired as can be,
Not from reading the Bible: from watching TV
So, then back to the table, side by side,
Is the Holy Bible and the T.V. Guide.
No time for prayer, no time for the Word.
The Plan of salvation is seldom heard.
Forgiveness of sin so full and free,
Is found in the Bible, not on TV.
